Embracing Downgrading: Discovering True Contentment
It’s not about “downgrading consumption”; it’s about finally admitting that I like it this way.
Reflecting on my Instagram story archive from a few years ago, I realize that I was deeply immersed in a lifestyle centered around three pursuits: chasing after designer brands, dining at upscale restaurants, and attending social events to create the illusion of having numerous friends.
Looking back, I wonder why I found such pursuits so fulfilling.
In recent economically challenging times, few ordinary people remain unaffected.
Life’s a struggle, and sometimes waking up from an illusion isn’t such a bad thing.
Fate, after all, is a great teacher.
Canvas bags and discounted plain clothes aren’t symbols of “downgrading.”

I now prefer to invest in versatile jewelry, a few high-quality sweaters and coats, and various courses to improve my physical and mental well-being.
While buying luxury items isn’t necessarily about cost-effectiveness, how many of us can truly afford to wear haute couture only once?
